Somehow lost a day - convinced today was Thursday then checked if there was anything worth watching on the tele tonight (more in hope than expectation). Gardeners World? Surely that's not till tomorrow? So tomorrow is today and we had to gallop down to the chemist to collect a script, the shop not always open on a Saturday! Did the shopping this morning - no wonder the queues were longer that expected. Bought a dine-in and some prawns while P. went to Asda for the boring stuff. Also got a few things for A. Pulled up some excess lemon balm and trimmed the lavender and potted them on. Might take, might not. Lavender cuttings from last year re-potted yesterday and seem fine. Have put them along the newly-defined path in pots. Emailed T/S. Hope he's keeping okay. Will email R. at some point too. News yesterday was an extension of lockdown for another 3 weeks. And some cheerful spokesperson mention there could be up to 40,000 deaths. All this, and T has said US will rela...
P. had an appointment with the practice nurse for bloods, bp etc. She said no, not testing for C19. If they can't test passengers flying in from NY then ordinary bods have no chance! 30,000 dead and counting. US is getting back to business i.e. back to work, never mind that deaths are still rising and horror stories of cadavers stored in abandoned container lorries are circulating. Care homes are a sad situation, on many levels. Perhaps in the aftermath regulation will be more stringent and put residents health above profit. Weekly shop today as Friday is the VE bank holiday. P did Asda and I did M+S. Customers shop slower in M+S. Went to Claremont Farm and P. got asparagus, eggs, honey and some bargain bacon. Having lamb chops for tea and this afternoon will probably potter in the garden. Sat in the garden after tea for a bit. The world shrinks to this small space that is, for a time, mine. I share it with a family of blackbirds, who have a nest in the holly hedge. Both m...
Is life returning to normal? or are we all just getting bored/confused/fed up with being told what to do? Is it still 2 metres or 1 metre plus? Can two or more households meet indoors (providing social distancing is adhered to) or is that Scotland? Do we wear face coverings when we go out of our front door or is it only if we go indoors (like shops, transport or pubs)? How many people are now pragmatists and just shrug their shoulders? We had a visit from two friends. They came in, had tea and cake made by me, with our plates and cups, sat in a standard room in which distancing is a challenge. Then shook hands, hugged and waved goodbye. Seven days and counting. (Well, now 5 and counting...) Second Market and not as chaotic. Constant drip, drip and sold most things. Some orders for next week. Just need to stop our cashier from being so obsessive about totalling.... Plot has lots of blackcurrants, everything growing madly because of the rain/warm/sunshine. Someone has found A a...
