Strawberries and stray emails

A is feeling a bit off so they didn't come to the plot today. I tied up the tomatoes that the wind had blown down and did a bit of weeding. The old shed end has fallen on the asparagus bed but it was too heavy for me to lift - will take two! The water butt by the door is full, so hopeful the well is too. Picked a few strawberries. P. collected me. Saw a 5-spot yellow ladybird, a lilac (or maybe grey) long bug with apricot (or orange) spots in 2 lines down its back. After some research, it could be a ladybird larva. We went out earlier to Helen's, to collect face masks she had made. Lots of choice and came home with 3 instead of four - idiot! She is looking well and pragmatic about her health. While I was at the plot P went to the tip (an hour and a half today - chap said last week was quick because everyone was at the beach. Probably why the R rate is back up to 1.) All or nothing?

 They are talking about the 19th July - well, it started as talking but now it is beginning to sound more like arguing. Should all restrictions go? or be more cautious and add another stage to 'normality'? I, for one, am not going to be leaving my face covering at home any time soon. Sanitiser will still be in my pocket, windows on trains etc will still be opened and if a lift looks crowded, I will get out and wait for the next one.  A matrix sign has the message -Be patient, be kind, be safe. Sounds like a plan for life.

Mid-week and DEVS

P. had an appointment with the practice nurse for bloods, bp etc. She said no, not testing for C19. If they can't test passengers flying in from NY then ordinary bods have no chance! 30,000 dead and counting. US is getting back to business i.e. back to work, never mind that deaths are still rising and horror stories of cadavers stored in abandoned container lorries are circulating. Care homes are a sad situation, on many levels. Perhaps in the aftermath regulation will be more stringent and put residents health above profit. Weekly shop today as Friday is the VE bank holiday. P did Asda and I did M+S. Customers shop slower in M+S. Went to Claremont Farm and P. got asparagus, eggs, honey and some bargain bacon. Having lamb chops for tea and this afternoon will probably potter in the garden. Sat in the garden after tea for a bit. The world shrinks to this small space that is, for a time, mine.
